My running journey began when I was introduced to Cross Country and Track in middle school, but of course it comes with a fun story on how they hooked me. As the story goes, the cross country coach at the time had a "Run a Mile for a Piece of Pie" event and I figured I could at least handle that. For a piece of free pie, totally worth it! Little did I know, that I would still be running as a personal passion all these years later. My dad always instilled in me how important it was to stay active and keep your body moving, but also make it enjoyable. Well running is what makes me happy and it's taken me places I never thought I'd be!
When I learned of Chicago Run's message, it took me back to being a kid and thinking how cool it was that I was able to be introduced to a non-cut sport that I could continue doing the rest of my life. I love the thought of the people who work at Chicago Run introducing running as an option to stay fit for now and well into the future. And who knows, maybe they can steal that pie run idea and get even more kids to join in on the fun!
Please help me support Chicago Run by making a contribution to my 2026 Chicago Marathon fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance Chicago Run's great cause!
