One of my earliest memories of running is with my dad on the beach during a family vacation. I was little, running hard but inefficiently, landing heavy on my heels without realizing it. He stopped me, pointed back at our footprints in the sand, and showed me the difference between how I was running and how he was. Then he gave me a simple cue: lean forward, trust your balance, and run more on the forefoot.
Sometimes all it takes is someone paying attention, offering encouragement, and showing you a better way forward.
That’s why Team Chicago Run resonates so deeply with me.
Donations to this fundraiser directly support Team Chicago Run’s in-school and out-of-school programs that empower young people across Chicago, from Pre-K through high school, to experience movement in a safe, supportive, and inclusive way.
I’m proud to be running the Chicago Marathon on behalf of Team Chicago Run, and I’m committed to raising funds that help make these programs accessible to thousands of young people across the city.
Any contribution (no matter the size) helps provide opportunities for kids and teens to experience movement as something positive, empowering, and community-driven. If you’re able to donate or share this page, you’ll be helping young people take meaningful steps forward, both on and off the course.
I’ll be documenting my training along the way and highlighting donors on my YouTube channel, so be sure to follow along and see the impact you’re helping make.
